The Holiday Homes Tour, an event hosted by Health Care Access, has announced it will feature six Lawrence homes for this year’s tour, which will take place on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, from noon to 5 p.m.  Tickets cost $20 with only 500 being sold.

Health Care Access is a nonprofit organization that serves as a health home in Douglas County for persons with limited financial means.

The homes featured are:  (click to see photos of homes)

1318 Kanza Drive – Home of Sarah Dreiling and Dustin Herron

209 Providence Road – Home of Beth and Marshall Kelley

5229 Brown Lane – Home of Jennifer and Derek Stucker

1733 Brandon Woods Drive – Home of Margie Steil

646 Rhode Island Street – Home of Summer and Nate Wedermyer

1700 Mississippi Street – Home of Lew Llewellyn

“Marshall and I are honored to welcome holiday visitors into our home for the tour,” said homeowner Beth Kelley. “It seems fitting to open our doors to visitors just as Health Care Access opens theirs. We are planning a couple of highlights this year: Mrs. Claus will be greeting guests, and Balloon Arts has a special creation we are excited to see. We are going to deck the halls and hope to see many visitors.”

“We are proud to be part of a Lawrence holiday season tradition,” said Health Care Access CEO Beth Llewellyn. “The team of community volunteers who serves to put on a great event have raised the bar to raise funds to support the Health Care Access mission.”

This is the 12th year for the Holiday Homes Tour. With a purchased ticket, people can tour the homes, which are decorated for the holiday season. One of the homes featured this year is a  former home of, and built by, basketball inventor James Naismith.

“Given the popularity of KU basketball in Lawrence, I think the former Naismith home on Mississippi Street will be a big draw for this year’s tour,” said Kris Marsh, Holiday Homes Tour chair. “With our mix of historic and new homes, I think tickets may sell out early.”

Tickets can be purchased online (click the Purchase Tickets button above) and will be available Sept. 15 at HyVee Customer Service locations in Lawrence and also from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the administrative offices for Health Care Access in the United Way Building, 2518 Ridge Court.

The Holiday Shoppe and Bake Sale will also be open the day of the event, Dec. 4, beginning at noon at the Smith Center at Brandon Woods, 4730 Brandon Woods Terrace. This year, with the help of local interior designers, the Holiday Shoppe will feature repurposed holiday items to create unique and chic holiday décor. Also new this year is a raffle for themed baskets donated by local companies. The Holiday Shoppe and Bake Sale is free and open to the public.

All proceeds from the Holiday Homes Tour go directly to Health Care Access.
